We are proud to announce our commitment to environmental targets through collaboration with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This marks a significant step in Nourish’s long-term environmental strategy. Reinforcing our dedication to building a resilient and responsible future for the UK social care sector.
“We believe that building for the future means taking responsibility today.” said John Billington, Chief Financial Officer of Nourish Care. “Our commitment to science-based targets reflects our values as a company and our role in supporting a sustainable social care ecosystem, both environmentally and operationally.”
What is the Science Based Targets initiative?
The SBTi is a global body enabling businesses to set emissions reduction targets in line with climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement. By working with SBTi, companies ensure their climate actions are credible, transparent, and effective.

Nourish Care’s targets are publicly listed on the SBTi dashboard.
Why Environmental Targets Matter for Social Care
As a technology provider to care organisations across the UK, Nourish understands the importance of reducing environmental impact while supporting the wellbeing of communities. By aligning with SBTi, Nourish is helping to future-proof themselves and their users.
This initiative complements Nourish’s broader mission to improve care through innovation, compassion, and responsibility. With ten years under our belts here at Nourish we are naturally focusing on how the make the most of the next 10. Environmental targets are a key aspect of our future, creating a healthier world for everyone.
Nourish Care’s Environmental Targets
As part of its pledge, Nourish Care will maintain zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions through 2034. Additionally, we will measure and reduce Scope 3 emissions from a 2024 baseline. The SBTi team assessed and validated these targets. They checked them against the SME Criteria Assessment Indicators (v1.0) and ensured they are aligned with the latest climate science and global best practices.
The SBTi uses three categories of greenhouse gas emissions to help organisations set and track climate goals. These categories are Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. The Greenhouse Gas Protocol defines these scopes, a widely used international accounting tool.
