Case Study: Milestones Trust

By Lorcán Murray

Since its establishment in 1986 Milestones Trust has supported people to make positive changes and build momentum in their lives. Whether it is with the smallest of steps or the greatest of strides. Their person-centred approach has enabled people with mental health, learning disabilities, and complex needs to live lives they can be both happy in and proud of. Milestone Trust built upon this tradition of excellence by changing with the times and continually seeking to improve their process. A tradition that led Milestones Trust to start a rigorous evaluation of available systems involving their staff, the people they support and their families, aimed at ensuring they selected the right system for their community. After trialling Nourish Care in a number of their services Milestones Trust knew they had a partner they could work with, and a system they can rely on.

“We’re over the moon that Nourish will be providing our new digital support planning system. We considered several different providers during a comprehensive process and Nourish really stood out.”
Jeff Parry Director of Operations

“Being part of the digital transformation journey with Milestones is amazing. It showed how truly professional and dedicated their team is,” said Paul Barnes, Chief Customer Officer for Nourish. “Like everyone at Nourish, they are focused on delivering better care focused on the person.”

Milestones Trust Quality Records

Milestones Trust works with 458 people across 57 residential and supported housing services. When it came time to bring in a digital platform they knew they needed a robust, reliable records system. Good quality records underpin safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care, by communicating the right information clearly, to the right people, when they need it. With their focus on outcomes and reputation for excellence Milestones Trust were incredibly thorough about making the right investment.

“Ultimately, we’re making this change so that our staff can record and access information more quickly and easily,” explained Jeff Parry. “It will mean they have more time to focus on the thing that they’re really brilliant at, which is working directly with people we support.”

Milestone Trust had several key outcomes they wanted from their digital records. After the trial period they are delighted with Nourish’s functionality as they can now:

  • Access real time information about the care and support people need and receive.
  • Share information quickly, accurately and safely.
  • Make it easier for the people they support to access their own records.
  • Help support staff to make records more quickly and efficiently – freeing them up to focus on more ‘value-adding’ tasks.

This more in-depth access to information is a crucial part of Milestone Trust’s plans for the future.

“We’re confident that this system has the functionality that we need to fully future-proof our support planning, while being customisable enough that we can adapt it to suit all of our services. It was the solution that most impressed us, as it will allow us to replicate what we already do well on paper, but in a user-friendly electronic format.”
Jeff Parry Director of Operations

“Nourish Care is proud of the impact it makes on the people we help support,” added Paul Barnes. “The true benefit of digital shows in the impact and improved outcomes for the person receiving care. The Nourish team looks forward to celebrating those ongoing benefits with Milestones in the coming months.”

The Ongoing Digital Journey
