Case Study: Golden Care

By Sarag

Golden Care have three different residential care homes including The Firs Nursing Home in Taunton, Crick Care Home in Caldicot and Llanyravon Court in Cwnbran, each offering Nursing Care focused around personal needs.

Golden Care have recently adopted Nourish in their Nursing & Residential care homes. We caught up with CEO, Neil Reid, to find out how they’ve been using Nourish, and what benefits they’ve seen since implementing electronic care planning.

What made you decide to switch to digital care planning, and why did you choose Nourish?

We already had a digital system in place, but it was fairly limited in what it offered and lacked any quality reporting. Nourish offered a lot more functionality.

What concerns did you have about making the switch and how did Nourish help you overcome these concerns?

We were concerned about migrating to a new system because we we didn’t know how our colleagues would cope with change. Nourish were excellent, they put a bespoke training package in place for us and took the time to walk us through each step of the journey from setup to implementation.

How do you think Nourish has helped to enhance quality care at Golden Care?

We can track everything from fluid intake to weight management. The clear and detailed data reports help us identify any changes in resident needs, which helps us respond to changes as they happen.

“We can track everything from fluid intake to weight management. The clear and detailed data reports help us identify any changes in resident needs, which helps us respond to changes as they happen.”

What have you found to be the biggest time-saving feature of Nourish?

The reporting features are super quick and provide us with immediate insight into resident care and interventions. We used to wade through mountains of paperwork, now we click a few buttons!

Would you say that information is more accessible with Nourish? Describe how and why

Nourish provides us with a lot more detail. Our nursing and care teams are able to track each care intervention as it happens, and that helps to be sure everyone receives the care they need when they need it. Resident care plans are instantly available to all colleagues delivering care, which is especially useful for new starters.

Has Nourish had a positive impact on communication within the team?

The messaging, alerts, and handover function in Nourish helps make sure everyone is kept informed and up to date. Our care teams leave person centred notes on every care intervention and that provides all colleagues the insight they need.

How long did it take for you to notice that Nourish was making a difference?

We saw an immediate impact after launching Nourish, especially in relation to tracking and reporting the care residents receive. Nourish also holds all our audits, so we have everything in one place and receive reminders when audits are due.

What have you found to be the biggest time-saving feature of Nourish?

It’s a collection of things really. Nourish has helped us consolidate many systems into one place. Before, each of these systems required admin time and housekeeping, but things like maintenance reporting and how we gather data for reviews has all been streamlined by Nourish.

What is your favourite feature of Nourish?

Nourish ticks several boxes for us, we love it’s adaptability. We’re using Nourish to manage care plans, care interventions, audits and even periodic preventative maintenance. It handles our needs excellently.
